Best of NKY
BestofNKY.com does an annual list of the best things in Northern Kentucky. Currently, there is no category for “Circus” or even “Live performance”. However, there is a spot for “Other Category” to suggest something they missed.
We would love it if our fans wrote in, “Live Performance: Pickled Brothers Circus”!
I’m sure there are lots of businesses and people you’d love to nominate for other categories too! You can go and vote here:

Brothers Compete Head To Head For Fire Eating World Record
Newport, KY August 30, 2013 – Brothers, Travis Fessler and Erik Kloeker, of the world-renowned Pickled Brothers Circus will compete head to head for the title of the “World’s Fastest Fire Eater.” The brothers will have to beat the standing record of 39 fire eating torches eaten in 3o seconds.
The attempt will take place at a venue that is no stranger to the unusual, Jungle Jims in Eastgate, 4450 Eastgate South Drive, Cincinnati, OH on September 4th 2013 at 6PM. Spectators are encouraged to attend this event which is free to the general public. The event will kick-off the Pickled Brothers’ performances at the Old West Festival in Williamsburg, Ohio.
Travis and Erik have been performing with the circus for over 10 years. Both have broken world records in the past, and Erik appeared in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2011 and 2012.
The current Guinness World Record, held by German fire eater Hubertus Wawra, stands at 39 torches in 30 seconds. In order to bring the record back to America, the brothers will have to eat at least 40 torches individually, but in this rare record attempt, they won’t just be going against Wawra, they will be facing off with each other.
The torches must be dipped in special fire-eating fluid before being lit, and must be fully extinguished by the competitor’s mouth to count. The record attempt will be witnessed by Old West Festival owner Drew Deimling and Campbell County Kentucky Property Valuation Administrator Daniel Braun.
Travis Fessler, General Manager of the Pickled Brothers Circus had this to say “Erik is younger, faster, and in better shape than me. I taught him everything he knows about fire-eating. But not everything I know.” Erik Kloeker, marketing manager, said, “My brother, Travis, has a much bigger mouth than me, literally and figuratively, but I won’t let that stop me from beating him on record day.”
